An exciting week in store for Longwood's juvenile footballers.

On Tuesday evening they set sail for Dunganny where they will face a stiff test from Moynalvey in the U14 Football League Final.

This young team, which includes a significant number of U12 footballers, have performed with great credit throughout the competition and have every chance of securing the league trophy.

Despite missing a number of experienced players due to holidays, Longwood can be sure to give everything in pursuit of victory; nothing less will do against a strong Moynalvey team who have improved with every game.

We hope to see a big support from Longwood at the game - the players deserve the support of the community that they represent so well.

Later in the week, the U12 Footballers take centre stage as they play in the U12 Football League Final.  The game will take place at 3.00 p.m. on Saturday afternoon in Dunganny.

This fine team of footballers, led by inspirational captain Conor Dixon, have performed incredibly well over the past couple seasons.  Defeat in last year's summer league final has spurred the team on to greater effort and they produced an amazing second half comeback to defeat Blackhall Gaels in last week's semi-final.  Trailing by 5 points at halftime, the boys & girls from Longwood stormed back into the game, winning the second half by 0-10 to 0-0 to secure a 5 point victory.

Longwood's opponents in the final are, as yet, unknown after Moynalvey and St Colmcille's played out an  exciting draw in last week's semi-final.  The replay takes place on Thursday evening.

Once again we urge supporters to come out and cheer on the team in the Final.

Sandwiched between these two finals, our U12 Hurlers travel to Dunderry to face their hosts in the quarter final of the U12 Hurling League at 7.00 on Wednesday evening.  This excellent young team have played some fantastic hurling throughout the league campaign.  Despite suffering an opening round reversal against a strong Rathmolyon team, Longwood's players, under the expert tutelage of Enda Dixon and Jim Dorran (you couldn't ask for better coaches), have improved with every game and registered some excellent results along the way.  Here's hoping the winning run can continue.

So an exciting week ahead for our juvenile players and we haven't even mentioned Féile !!

More anon...........................Maigh Dearmhaí abú !
